Demetra - Golden Coin

A necklace that seems to come from the depths of the sea, has as a pendant a gold coin of Demeter, Goddess creator of the cycle of the seasons, of grain and harvests, mother of Persephone who Hades kidnapped and tricked into living with him in the underworld.

Demeter, abandoned by the Gods and in the grip of grief, unleashed a cataclysm on the earth that froze the crops and put the survival of human beings at risk.

Zeus was then forced to intervene but since Persephone had already tasted food in the underworld (a pomegranate seed) he could simply "divide" the girl between Hades and Demeter who could each see her for 6 months of the year.

From here, the seasons were born: the six months of cold and frost would be the months in which Persephone resided with Hades and the six months of rebirth and warmth would be the months spent in the company of her mother, on earth.

The necklace is dedicated to the strength of mothers and women. I wanted the coin to look as if it had been lost for centuries, yet still have a unique splendor! Because nothing can break that strength.
